Overview

Aya Sushi in Olympia, located on Cooper Point Road, offers an inviting gateway to classic and innovative Japanese cuisine. This sushi restaurant strikes a balance between tradition and creativity, appealing to both first-timers and seasoned sushi lovers alike. The moment you step inside, the clean, well-kept space sets a calm tone, enhanced by a refined, distinctly Japanese ambiance that feels both sophisticated and welcoming.

The highlight here is, undoubtedly, the sushi rolls. Special rolls like the Golden Capital and Cracker Roll showcase a bold play of textures and flavors, combining deep-fried elements with spicy tuna and rich sauces that deliver a satisfying burst in every bite. Traditional offerings such as Yasai Maki and Negihama Maki provide a fresh contrast, pleasing purists who appreciate simplicity and authentic taste.

Aya Sushi doesn’t stop at sushi alone. The menu features comforting options like Miso Soup, Chicken Teriyaki Bento, and the ever-popular Japanese Ceviche, rounding out the experience with heartier dishes. The chefs, known for their speed and skilled craftsmanship despite the fast pace, consistently plate visually appealing dishes that taste as good as they look.

The service adds a personal touch without feeling rushed. Diners have praised the attentiveness and patience of the staff—qualities that enhance intimate dinners or casual catch-ups. Whether sitting at the bar observing the chefs in action or enjoying a quiet table, the atmosphere remains relaxed and friendly.

Aya Sushi is an ideal choice for a variety of occasions: romantic first or last dates, as one reviewer reflected, find refuge here with soothing, well-crafted food; casual outings benefit from lively energy and approachable service; and more discerning palates cherish the quality and presentation of special rolls and sashimi.

In sum, Aya Sushi brings an accessible yet sophisticated take on Japanese dining to Olympia. It excels in delivering carefully prepared, flavorful dishes within a polished setting that invites guests back time and time again.

Aya Sushi is a great place for for first and last dates. I have stood up multiple men and women at this location. Nothing soothes the broken heart better than great sushi. If I were to be let down by a romantic interest, this is where I would want to be destroyed. Great service, clean, and delicious. Thank you Aya.

I loved every roll but especially enjoyed the fresh Wasabi that ones with the sashimi. Utterly incredible. Try the tuna tataki, nude on the beach and either of the sashimi plates. Oh and the plum wine.

My husband and I went to Aya Sushi for an impromptu date night and had a great experience! The staff was friendly and patient while we took our time reading the menu, the food was delicious, and the prices were very reasonable for what we ordered, which was: Volcano Roll – Good overall, but the baby scallops were a bit off-putting in texture. Calamari Roll – My husband liked it, though I found the calamari too chewy. Nude on the Beach – Phenomenal. No notes, just perfect. The dining space was comfortable, but I did notice that the bathroom had some damage to the ceiling panels and what looked like spitballs on the wall, which took away a bit from the overall impression.

Great spot for a chill date night! We sat at the bar and the two sushi chefs made our night. They were so insanely busy and it was truly amazing to see how hard and fast they worked to put out beautiful rolls every time. Who knew the best sushi chefs in town aren’t Japanese! They were so nice and made sure we were happy with our order. We will definitely come back again because of them. Jack in the box roll is still my favorite! Ate it too fast to get a photo :)

This is our go-to sushi spot! We've been here several times now, and the food is consistently delicious. The quality of the fish is amazing, especially considering the price point. Plus, the staff are always incredibly nice, and you can really tell the sushi chefs are truly talented. Highly, highly recommend

It was our first time here, my husband and I have always loved sushi and we go often. This was a good hidden gem, we love hole in the wall restaurants. Hopefully we’ll be back before we leave the state. Wish we could have gone here sooner.
